FOSTER LOCATION: Meridian, ID Oh my God what to say about our boy Jaxx, there is just so much good to say about this boy we aren't sure where to start'|Jaxx is a 5 year old Turkish Van/Domestic Long Hair mix (we think) who is just the sweetest cat on the planet! Jaxx had a rough start to life coming down with a wicked upper respiratory infection when he was young that affected his eyes. Over time the eyes became malformed; when one of them ruptured and the other one was not far behind his family turned him into a local shelter when they knew they could no longer care for him. The shelter did surgery to remove Jaxx's eyes so he was no ... (Read More)longer in pain and then they called Fuzzy Pawz Rescue to see if we could make room for Jaxx in our foster program. We of course said YES and are so happy we did! This oh so handsome boy is one of the nicest cats we have ever had. He loves nothing more than being near/with his humans. He loves to stand with his back feet on your lap, put his front paws on your shoulder and burrow his face into your neck. If you stop petting him before he is done he will head butt you until you start petting him again. He is so affectionate with everyone he meets it is amazing - he's never met a stranger he didn't fall in love with. He is kind, gentle, loving and just so happy to be loved. Jaxx may be blind but that doesn't stop him. He fairly quickly learned where things were in his foster home; he will walk slowly and carefully feeling things out with his whiskers and he rubs his head on everything he finds (scenting things). Once he has the layout down he's a rock star. It did take him a little bit to figure out how to jump on/off the couch but now you just say his name and he comes right up. (And yes he really comes when you call his name!) Jaxx is one smart cookie and will do most anything it you will love on him. He loves toys filled with cat nip, naps in the sunshine and cuddle time on the couch. Jaxx is great with other cats and originally lived with 2 others (and is living with 1 now in foster care) and he would be fine with dogs that didn't chase him (remember he can't see to run from them). He would do great in a home with kids that are older; while he is good with kids he needs an environment that does not have tiny feet running and little toys scattered all over the house. Oh we should also mention that Jaxx if FIV positive. Now don't freak out about this!! Jaxx is healthy and showing no symptoms of his FIV and remember I said he came from a home with 2 other cats - guess what - neither of those cats were FIV positive. FIV is NOT a death sentence and FIV cats can live with other cats and not get them sick! Feline Immune-deficiency Virus (FIV) is a virus that affects a cat's immune system over a period of years. FIV is a cat-only disease and cannot be spread to humans or other non-felines. FIV is not easily passed between cats. It cannot be spread casually - like in litter boxes, water and food bowls, or when snuggling and playing. The virus can be spread through blood transfusions, badly infected gums, or serious, penetrating bite wounds. (Bite wounds of this kind are extremely rare, except in free-roaming, un-neutered tomcats.) Keep an FIV cat indoors and free from stress, feed them a high-quality diet and an FIV cat will live long, healthy and relatively normal lives with no symptoms at all. Now as we said Jaxx is healthy, happy, wonderful, amazing and loves other cats! So how about it - we know you want to offer this ever so handsome boy a place in your life! Jaxx is litter box trained, does not mark, neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $25.00.
